What stays on your device

The calculator runs in your browser. We don't receive your income, ages, household, immigration status, pregnancy, disability or care history.

Your answers are saved in this browser so you can come back to them; "Clear my answers" deletes them. Immigration status, pregnancy, disability and incarceration answers are never saved. Anyone using this browser can see saved answers.

What reaches us

• Your ZIP code, county and state, to load the plans where you live.
• Doctors and drugs you look up. The names you type (with your ZIP code for doctors) and the IDs of the ones you pick go to CMS's Marketplace API, with your county's plan IDs, to check which plans cover them. We don't keep them.
• Request logs (time, IP address, page or lookup, browser), for security. Deleted within 30 days.

If you give us your email

Email list, only if you opt in. Your email, state, household size, an income range (for example, 200–250% of the poverty line), when you agreed and the wording you agreed to. We use it to send what you asked for: your results, enrollment deadlines and changes to 2027 tax credits, and, if you checked that box, when Pro is available.

Emailing yourself your results. Your email and a summary: coverage type, estimated credit and plan names. Resend delivers it. We don't keep the summary.

When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you and keep a record of it so we don't email you again.

Agents and brokers who ask to be listed

What you enter in the form. We use it to check your license and contact you about a listing, and delete it when you ask or after 2 years.

Analytics

Google Analytics records pages visited and a few events, such as finishing the calculator, with your state, an income range and a broad result type (for example, "Medicaid or CHIP"). Never your income, ages, ZIP code, email or other answers. It uses cookies. Google's advertising features are off.

Support payments

Stripe processes them on its own site. From Stripe we get your email, name, billing country and ZIP code, the amount, and the card brand and last four digits. Never your full card number.

Who we share it with

Companies that run parts of the site for us: Cloudflare (hosting, security and bot checks on forms), Vercel (runs the system that files the email list and listing requests), Supabase (stores them), Resend (email delivery), Google (analytics) and Stripe (payments). Listing requests also arrive in OppKo's email inbox. CMS gets doctor and drug searches, IDs and a ZIP code, not who you are. These companies use the data only to provide their services.

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with insurers, agents, brokers or advertisers. We disclose information when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your choices

• Unsubscribe with the link in any email.
• Ask to see or delete your information: hello@oppko.com. We answer within 30 days.
• Delete saved answers with "Clear my answers."
• Block or delete cookies in your browser. The calculator still works.
• If your state's law gives you more rights, email us and we'll honor them.

Do Not Track

We don't track you across other sites, so Do Not Track signals don't change what we collect.

Children

Coverage Decider isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Parents can enter children's ages for a household estimate; those answers stay on the device.

Security

The site uses HTTPS. Only OppKo and the providers above can access the email list.

Changes

We post changes here with a new effective date. For significant changes, we also email subscribers.
